Gen 1:14-15 14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 “and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great 4 lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
In the account of Jesus' first coming (His conception and birth) the scripture gives detail of wise men (magi) following a star in order to find the king who was to be born. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. One particular prophecy concerning the Lord's birth and is found in Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
I am considering in these notes other times in scripture when we read about the sun moon & stars in connection with the Lords second coming.
In Rev 12 we read of the great sign John saw in a vision as seen from the throne of God in heaven.
